Super Spices Global: an ERPNext Storefront Live in Two Weeks

The brief

Super Spices Global is a spices business in Madhupura, Ahmedabad. They wanted a website as the first step to a global presence: somewhere buyers outside their existing network could see the range. Most of their leads came, and still come, by phone.

What I built

• ERPNext v15 with Webshop and India Compliance, used as they ship. Webshop runs the catalogue; India Compliance covers GST. There are no changes to ERPNext itself.
• A custom app for the storefront template. The site's look (home, product and category pages, the enquiry form) comes from a small custom app that holds the template, so the design sits apart from ERPNext.
• A storefront for five categories: Premium Seeds, Spices, Premium Dry Fruits, Herbs and Blended Spices, with an all-products page, category pages, product search and a sitemap.
• Enquiries that land in ERPNext. The enquiry form on every product page and the contact form both file a Lead, so a buyer's message reaches the sales pipeline, not an inbox.
• Live on their own domain, superspicesglobal.com, hosted and monitored on infrastructure I run, with off-site backups.

Why there was so little to customise

Webshop and India Compliance already covered what the site needed, so the job was setting them up well, not building around them. The only custom code is the template app, kept outside ERPNext, so the core stays standard and upgradable: there is nothing in it to rework when a new version comes out.

What happened next

The site went live 10 to 15 days after we started. Lately the team has been taking more online orders from outside sources through the same system, and following up with buyers by email when needed.
